So Many Planets, But It’s No Man’s Sky

by Spencer Camarda

It was probably safe to say that when you were little, you wanted to grow up to be an astronaut. I mean, what other job seems cooler than being an astronaut? You get to fly around in a spaceship, meet aliens, discover new planets, and become an ultimate adventurer. The allure of these offworld adventures tantalizes you until you realize that you’ll never become that astronaut. You won’t be flying around in an X-wing from Star Wars, you won’t be like Sandra Bullock or George Clooney in an international space station, and you’ll never get to find all of those amazing planets you dreamed of. That was the case... until Hello Games released its highly anticipated release, “No Man’s Sky.” Finally, your dreams as a young, aspiring space explorer have come to life as you jump from planet to planet, quenching your thirst for adventure at every new and unknown sight. I take a closer look into the game to see just what magic lies within all 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 of these planets.

Bandai S.H.Figuarts Captain America: Civil War Ant-Man Reviewed

by Darian S. Kovach

This should be a short review.
Get it? I’ll wait.

Short... review…

Comedic gold. Send that home to your parents, compliments of the ol’ Darianster.
Today we’re taking a look at the brand spanking new S.H.Figuarts Ant-Man. This isn’t my first Figuarts figure. I’m pretty much a sucker for any super hero/Star Wars license they release. The figure is a 1:12 replication of Scott Lang in his second Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) uniform. As expected, it’s a great figure. How great is it?

From creators and executive producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh of the Emmy Award-winning animated series "Phineas and Ferb," the series follows 13-year-old Milo Murphy, the fictional great-great-great-great grandson of the Murphy's Law namesake. Milo is the personification of Murphy's Law, where anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

DC Animation Goes Old School with Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment take Batman fans on a journey into the iconic past with the full-length animated Batman feature film – Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. The film features the vocal performances of Adam West (Batman), Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman). Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will be available November 1, 2016 on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack ($24.98 SRP) and DVD ($19.98 SRP). Order due date is September 27, 2016.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will be available to own on Digital HD starting October 11, 2016.

It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes – Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. The four Super-Villains have combined their wicked talents to hatch a plot so nefarious that the Dynamic Duo will need to go to outer space (and back) to foil their arch enemies and restore order in Gotham City. It’s a truly fantastic adventure that will pit good against evil, good against good, evil against evil … and feature two words that exponentially raise the stakes for both sides: Replicator Ray. Holy Multiplication Tables!

Is the Future of Conventions ONLINE?

There are now a staggering number of comic, anime and various, specific pop culture conventions across the GLOBE on a weekly basis. I'd say New Jersey has at least 10 to speak of! Now, one company is raising some important questions... Do fans really want to stand in sweaty spaces with strangers, waiting in long lines for hours to get their favorite celeb's autograph? Is it important to see new collectibles in person? Is it worth it to get a hotel room, fight for a ticket and travel to conventions just to see preview footage from new films that will be leaked online within minutes?

Get Ready for Halloween Comic Fest October 29th

Free Comics for Halloween Comic Fest 2016
In its fifth year, Halloween ComicFest 2016 is set to be the largest fall event yet for comic book shops. Comic book and Halloween fans of all ages can go to over 1,900 participating locations, which will give away more than 2 million free Halloween-themed full-size and mini-comics during the annual Halloween event taking place Saturday, October 29th.

“We’re ecstatic about the 33% increase in total comics ordered from last year, which signals to us that Halloween ComicFest continues to grow as one the industry’s major annual events,” said Halloween ComicFest spokesperson Michael Moccio. “What’s especially exciting is that the mini-comics increased almost 50% from last year. As an industry, turning the next generation into comic book fans is paramount and we’re happy we can contribute to that initiative by distributing the all-ages mini-comics that are perfect to give to trick-or-treaters. No doubt, this year’s increase in mini-comics orders is due to all the great properties featured, such as Archie Comics, Dynamite’s Grumpy Cat, VIZ Media’s Pokémon X&Y Pocket Comics and more.”

SDCC 2016: The Nintendo Update

By Spencer Camarda

Aside from the plethora of Ash Ketchums, Starbucks Coffee stands, and never-ending lines that zig and zag every way known to man, the number of gaming developers is, inexplicably, ever-expanding within Comic Con’s corridors. While spending a majority of my time inside of the Nintendo Lounge located adjacent to the Convention Center inside of the Marriot, I found a number of spectacles that left me begging for more. Everything from new 3DS releases, to Wii U, and to the first reveal of Nintendo’s NES: Classic Edition. Let’s dive in!

Rocko’s Modern Life RETURNS!!

Marking its 25th anniversary of original creator-driven animation to the day and date, Nickelodeon today announces another reinvention of its library content: the greenlight of an original one-hour TV special based on its classic ‘90s hit, Rocko’s Modern Life. With Rocko’s original creator Joe Murray on board as executive producer, the animated Rocko's Modern Life TV special will bring back all the show’s classic characters and offer some surprising new takes on life in O-Town. Additional news of Rocko’s airdate and casting will be announced in the coming months.

"I'm very happy to be rejoining Rocko and my friends from O-Town again,” said creator and executive producer Joe Murray. “What I have found by bringing these characters back is that it's not so much about nostalgia, but a sense that they still feel relevant and fresh to me, and after twenty years, they can't wait to comment on modern life in the 21st century. They still have a lot to say."

Harley & Me: A Superfan Fights Through the Bitching

Idle Hands introduces our newest writer, Lily Stitches!! Lily has a particular love for a certain female maniac in red and black making her big screen debut this weekend and we thought it was a perfect opportunity for her to express that love and deliver a special message to the haters.

My name is Lily Stitches. I'm a burlesque performer, cosplayer, and GIANT fan of Harley Quinn. I have multiple cosplays of her, issues of her comics, collectibles, and even her trademark diamonds tattooed on my leg.

While everyone fell in love with her on Batman: the Animated Series in the 90's, it wasn't until her makeover in Batman: Arkham Asylum that she called to me. From the second I saw that trailer of her in her "new uniform", that was it. I was in love. From that day on I held her on a pedestal. She was such a badass. I started identifying with her, and she helped me find the strength to get out of some darkness of my own. She helped me learn you can knock anything out if you fight hard enough and still be silly and adorable doing it!
